Our story

Hi, I’m Mira!

I live in the beautiful Skibotn Valley, nestled next to the majestic Lyngen Alps and the stunning Lyngenfjord. Here, I share my life with my partner Torbjørn, our 3-year-old son Ailo, and our beloved pack of 20 Greenland dogs.

We run a small family business with a big heart. Our goal is to give you an unforgettable, authentic dogsledding experience with our friendly and energetic dogs. We offer tours for small groups only, so we can provide the best possible experience — both for you and for our dogs.

Each of our dogs is a cherished member of our family. Their happiness, health, and well-being are our highest priorities. They live in spacious kennels with 2–3 dogs per kennel, allowing them to socialize and play together. We also have a large running area where all the dogs exercise and play every day, year-round.

In the summer, we take our dogs on hikes — both short and long — through the scenic landscapes around Lyngenfjord. They sometimes enjoy a swim, and of course, they get plenty of cuddles and attention!

We’d love to welcome you to share in this special life with us and our wonderful dogs.

How everything started

My adventurous and restless soul has taken me all around the world. I’ve worked as a peacekeeper in Africa, volunteered in Peru, and studied in Mexico. For many years, I travelled with nothing more than a bike and a backpack — always chasing the horizon. But no matter where I went, I always missed the raw, powerful beauty of the Arctic. That deep longing eventually brought me back to the land of snow and ice.

My journey led me to Svalbard, the Arctic archipelago, where I finally felt like I had found my true home. I spent three incredible years there, gaining valuable experience in the outdoors. After my time in Svalbard, I moved to the Norwegian mainland, living in various places across Northern Norway before settling in the beautiful Skibotn Valley.

Even before my travels, I was drawn to the wilderness. I attended a wilderness guide school and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, specializing in outdoor sports. But it was on my personal expeditions and long journeys where I truly learned the most — from the wild, from the elements, and from the dogs.

When I was 20, someone warned me: “Never get just one polar dog — in a few years, you’ll have ten.” And that’s exactly what happened. I got my first Greenland dog/husky mix while living in Svalbard, and I immediately fell in love with this tough, loyal, and incredibly strong Arctic breed.

Today, my pack has grown to 20 dogs. Half are purebred Greenland dogs, and the other half are Greenland dog/husky mixes. They may not be the fastest, but they are powerful, resilient, and thrive in extreme cold. I truly can’t imagine life without them — they are my adventure partners and part of our family.

I met my partner Torbjørn during his Arctic Nature Guide (ANG) studies in Svalbard. Today, he works as a police officer, and also for NVE (the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate), contributing to avalanche reporting. He continues to guide alongside his full-time work, sharing his deep knowledge of the Arctic.

In 2022, our son Ailo was born. He’s already becoming an eager little outdoorsman — with a strong love for nature and dogs, just like his parents.
